Men’s golf team finishes in sixth-place at SAU Invitational
The men’s golf team finished in sixth-place (out of seven schools) today at the one-day, 36-hole Spring Arbor University Invitational, which was played at the Arbor Hills Golf Course in Jackson.
JACKSON, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in sixth-place (out of seven schools) today at the one-day, 36-hole Spring Arbor University Invitational, which was played at the Arbor Hills Golf Course in Jackson.
The Comets had a 316 team score over the first 18 holes and 311 over the last 18 holes for a two-round total of 627 strokes. Trine (Ind.) University captured the team title with a 609 (297-312), followed by St. Francis (Ind.) 610 (303-307), Spring Arbor 612 (304-308), Rochester 619 (306-313) and Aquinas 626 (306-320).
Senior Cameron LaFountain (Battle Creek/Marshall) led Olivet with a 152 (76-76). Freshman Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) was a stroke behind at 153 (78-75). Sophomore Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) carded a 156 (77-79). Freshman Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen) posted a 166 (85-81), and freshman Tyler Swinehart (Plainwell) capped the Comets' lineup with a 174 (89-85).
Olivet will compete in the Trine (Ind.) University Bill Gettig Invitational Saturday at the Zollner Golf Course. The shotgun start is slated for noon.
