Men’s golf team places 11th at Ted Barclay Spring Invitational
The men’s golf team placed 11th (out of 13 schools) at the 2011 Ted Barclay Spring Invitational, which was played at the Granville Country Club and hosted by Denison (Ohio) University.
GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's golf team placed 11th (out of 13 schools) at the 2011 Ted Barclay Spring Invitational, which was played at the Granville Country Club and hosted by Denison (Ohio) University.
After carding a 325 team in Saturday's first round, the Comets lowered their score by seven strokes today for a two-round total of 643. Ohio Wesleyan University won the team championship with a 588 (295-293).
Sophomore Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) shot a team-low 75 in today's round and combined with yesterday's 79, he led the Comets with a two-round total of 154 strokes. Senior Cameron LaFountain (Battle Creek/Marshall) finished with a 157 (78-79). Freshman Tyler Swinehart (Plainwell) improved the most today with a 78, which was seven strokes better than his first round and gives him a total of 163 strokes.
Freshman Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen) posted a two-round total of 169 (83-86) strokes. Freshman Kevin Fields (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) shot back-to-back 86s for a 172 total.
Olivet will next play in the one-day Trine University/A.C. Eddy Invitational this Wednesday, April 13.
