The men’s golf team was fourth at the MIAA Jamboree #7, hosted by Calvin College today at the Watermark Country Club.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's golf team was fourth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #7, hosted by Calvin College today at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
The Comets turned in a 310 team score, which was just one stroke behind third-place Albion College and two behind second-place Trine (Ind.) University. The host Knights won the team championship with a 305. Adrian and Hope tied for fifth with 316s, followed by Alma 330 and Kalamazoo 343.
Individually, sophomore Justin Ardelean (Owosso) was part of a tie for sixth-place with a three-over par 75. Playing in the lineup for the first time this season, senior Cam LaFountain (Marshall) responded by placing in a tie for eighth with a 77. Freshman Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) and junior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) each had a 79. Freshman Ryan Bailey (Battle Creek/Lakeview) carded an 87.
With the final jamboree set for Saturday at the Pine River Country Club in Alma, the Comets sit in fifth-place in the overall MIAA standings with 2,139 total strokes. Trine has an 18 stroke lead over Calvin, 2,096-2,114. Hope is a close third at 2,117, followed by Adrian 2,122. Behind Olivet is Albion 2,153, Alma 2,228 and Kalamazoo 2,286.
