Men’s golf team ties for fifth-place at MIAA Jamboree #2
The Olivet College men's golf team tied for fifth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #2 today, which was played at Alma College's home course, Pine River Country Club.
The Comets shot a 312 team score to tie Albion College. Hope College took top honors with a 298, followed by Adrian, 301; Calvin, 302; and Trine, 304. Alma was seventh at 322 and Kalamazoo was eighth at 329.
Leading the way for Olivet was senior Luke Godin (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale Secondary), who fired a 75. Sophomore Grant Spencer (Olivet) had a 77. Junior Cameron LaFountain (Marshall) was one stroke behind with a 78. Freshman Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) needed 82 strokes to complete his round, and junior Nick Harless (DeWitt) needed 83 strokes.
The Comets slip into a tie for fourth-place with Trine in the seasonal standings. Adrian stands in first-place at 600, followed by Hope, 603; and Calvin, 609.
The third league jamboree will take place next Saturday, Sept. 19, at Adrian's Lenawee Country Club. Action gets under way with a noon shotgun start.
