Men’s golf team finishes in sixth-place at MIAA Jamboree #8 and in final MIAA seasonal standings
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in sixth-place in a rescheduled Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree at the Wuskowhan Players Club. The jamboree was postponed twice because of weather.

With the finish in today's round, the Comets also place sixth in the final MIAA seasonal standings. Hope College captured the 2009 MIAA Championship with an eight-round total of 2,399 strokes. Albion, Calvin and Trine all tied for second-place at 2,440 strokes. Adrian was fifth at 2,471 strokes, followed by Olivet at 2,488; Alma, 2,534; and Kalamazoo, 2,566.
In today's round, the Comets shot a 315. Albion won the jamboree title with a 291. Hope and Trine shared second-place at 297. Calvin was fourth, 309; and Alma was fifth, 311.
Olivet was led by sophomore Grant Spencer (Olivet), who tied for sixth-place with a one-over-par 73. Junior Cameron LaFountain (Marshall) was two strokes behind at 75. Senior Luke Godin (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale Secondary) posted an 82, followed by junior Nick Harless (DeWitt), 85; and freshman Justin Ardelean (Owosso), 86.
For his efforts this fall, LaFountain earned second-team All-MIAA honors. He played in all eight jamborees, averaging 76.5 strokes. Spencer also played in each of the jamborees and averaged 77.5 strokes.
