Men’s golf team places sixth at MIAA Jamboree #6
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed sixth at the sixth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree today at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
The Olivet College men's golf team placed sixth at the sixth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree today at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
The Comets' team score was 316 strokes. The home course proved to be successful for Calvin, as the Knights won the jamboree at 294 strokes. Hope was second at 306, followed by Trine, 307; Albion, 309; and Alma, 312. Kalamazoo and Adrian tied for seventh-place at 325.
Senior Luke Godin (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale Secondary) had Olivet's lowest score, a three-over-par 75. Junior Cameron LaFountain (Marshall) was next at 77. Sophomore Grant Spencer (Olivet) had an 81, while junior Nick Harless (DeWitt) completed his round in 83 strokes. Freshman Tyler Parkin (Alanson/Harbor Springs) shot an 84.
With their finish, the Knights also cut into Hope's lead in the seasonal standings. The Flying Dutchmen lead by 14 strokes, 1,793-1,807. Trine is third (1,821), Adrian is fourth (1,841), Albion is fifth (1,849), Olivet is sixth (1,854), Alma is seventh (1,889) and Kalamazoo is eighth (1,921).
The next jamboree is Thursday, Oct. 8, at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. The eighth and final outing is next Monday, Oct. 12, at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive. Both have a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
