Men’s golf team finishes in first-place at MIAA Jamboree #2
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in first-place at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree this afternoon at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in first-place at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree this afternoon at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the finish, the Comets maintain their lead in the overall seasonal standings.
In today's round, Olivet carded a 298 team score to beat Hope College by five strokes. Trine (Ind.) University was third at 304, followed by Calvin (309), Albion (310), Kalamazoo (315), Alma (317) and Adrian (323).
Leading the way for the Comets were freshman Drew Lasky (Marshall) and senior Justin Lesansky (LaSalle, Ontario/International), who each posted a 74. Lasky had a 38 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine. After shooting a 41 on the front nine, Lesansky rallied with a 33 on the back nine.
Sophomore Nick Harless (DeWitt) and senior Eric Ross (Burlington, Ontario/International) were in a six-way tie for fifth-place with a 75. Senior Brock Gleadall (Stratford, Ontario/St. Michael's Catholic) recorded an 81.
After two MIAA jamborees, Olivet has totaled 591 strokes. Hope is second at 606, followed by Trine (607), Albion (610), Calvin (620), Adrian (636), Kalamazoo (640) and Alma (641).
The Comets will compete in the third league jamboree next Tuesday, Sept. 16. Albion is hosting the outing at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, and it will get started at 1 p.m.
