Men’s golf team takes second-place at fourth MIAA jamboree, continues to lead MIAA seasonal standings
At the halfway point of its 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schedule, the Olivet College men’s golf team stands in first-place in the MIAA seasonal standings. The Comets finished in second-place today at the fourth of eight league outings at The Prairies Golf Course in Kalamazoo.

Hope College was first with 293, and Olivet was three strokes behind the Flying Dutchmen with a 296. The rest of the top-five were Albion, 304; Adrian, 313; and Calvin, 315. In the overall MIAA standings, the Comets have totaled 1,200 strokes, which is only two ahead of Hope. Albion is third at 1,243, followed by Alma (1,248) and Tri-State (1,259).
In today's round, senior Joe Kiss (East Leroy/ Harper Creek) shot an even par 71 to lead Olivet and place him third in the player standings. Junior Eric Ross (Burlington, Ontario/International) placed fourth with a 72. Junior Brock Gleadall (Stratford, Ontario/St. Michael's Catholic) was one of six golfers to post a 75. Junior Justin Lesansky (LaSalle, Ontario/International) was next for the Comets with a 78, and junior Jacob Johnson (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) had an 84.
After four MIAA rounds, Gleadall is second in the player standings at 294 strokes, only one stroke behind Hope's Tommy Yamaoka. Kiss and Ross are tied for third with a 298 each.
Olivet is now idle until the next MIAA jamboree on Thursday, Sept. 27, at Bucks Run Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant. Alma College is the host, and the action gets started with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
