Men’s golf team captures team title at MIAA Jamboree #8
Despite capturing the team title at today’s last Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree, the Olivet College men’s golf team has finished in third-place in the final MIAA standings. Junior Derrick Sayers (Battle Creek/Lakeview) has earned first-team All-MIAA honors with a 74.6 stroke average. Hope College was crowned the MIAA champion, followed by Tri-State (Ind.) University.

Junior Derrick Sayers (Battle Creek/Lakeview) has earned first-team All-MIAA honors with a 74.6 stroke average. Hope College was crowned the MIAA champion, followed by Tri-State (Ind.) University.
In today's jamboree at the Watermark Country Club, the Comets had a MIAA course record score of 301 strokes. The previous record was a 303 by Hope in 2003. Individually, sophomore Joe Kiss (East Leroy/Harper Creek) earned medalist honors with a MIAA course record 71. The old record was 72 by Phil Reitema from Calvin College in 2003.
Following Kiss was sophomore Justin Gusczinski (Hanover-Horton) with a 75, which tied him for third-place. Sayers was next at 77, followed by senior Steve Ross (Rockford) at 78 and freshman Robbe Trout (Charlotte) at 81.
