Men's golf team places third at the final MIAA Jamboree

Today, the Fighting Comets carded a team score of 311 strokes to finish five strokes behind Calvin College. In the seasonal standings, Olivet had a 312.3 stroke average. Calvin was second with a 310.3 average and Hope College captured the 2003 championship with a 304.0 average.
Individually, junior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St. Ignatius of Loyola) was third in the seasonal standings and earned first-team All-MIAA honors for the second consecutive season with a 76.6 stroke average. Sophomore Steve Ross (Rockford High School) earned second-team All-MIAA honors for the second straight season with a 78.7 average. Golfers must participate in six of seven league jamborees to qualify for all-league recognition.
Junior Stew Halstead (Kelowna, Ontario/Mount Boucherie) led the Comets today with a 76. He was followed by Ross with a 77, Dinner and junior Jon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) with a 79, and senior Ryan Spencer (Chatham, Ontario/Chatham-Kent) with an 83.
