Men's golf team finishes in third-place at Tri-State (Ind.) Invitational
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in third-place today at the Eddy Invitational hosted by Tri-State (Ind.) University at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola.
The Olivet College men's golf team finished in sixth-place today at the College of Wooster Invitational at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster, Ohio.
After tallying a team score of 316 strokes on the Friday, the Fighting Comets also shot a 316 on Saturday for a two-day score of 732 strokes. Otterbein (Ohio) College led the 17-team field with 608 strokes. The top eight teams were within 28 strokes of each other.
Individually, junior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St, Ignatius of Loyola) led the Comets with a two-day score of 155 strokes. He shot a 76 on Friday, and a 79 today. Chad Poling from Ohio Wesleyan University earned medalist honors with a 146.
Following Dinner were juniors Stew Halstead (Kelowna, British Columbia/Mount Boucherie) and Andrew Wismer (Thornhill, Ontario/Thornhill Secondary) with a 158. Junior Jon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) and sophomore Mike Ward (Caledonia, Ontario) had two-day scores of 164.
Olivet will next compete tomorrow at the John Carroll (Ohio) University Pat Flowers Spring Golf Invitational. The invitational will be played entirely tomorrow using the 27-hole layout of Fowler's Mills Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio.
