Men’s Basketball: Olivet drops 97-54 game at Wis.-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team could not overcome a rough start, as the University of Wisconsin-Platteville defeated the Comets, 97-54, this afternoon on Bo Ryan Court and inside the Williams Fieldhouse.

- The Pioneers raced out to a 17-0 lead in the first two minutes and 14 seconds of the game. During the run, UW-Platteville made five three-pointers and a slam dunk. The hot shooting continued for the Pioneers, as they led 61-18 at halftime. In the opening 20 minutes of the game, UW-Platteville made 19 total baskets, including 11-of-19 from behind the arc. The Comets made eight baskets, with two triples. In the second half, the Pioneers lead by as many as 56 points, 76-20, with 15:03 left in the game.
- Freshman Nathan Richardson and junior Mason Wichman each scored eight points to lead Olivet.
- Freshman Conner Schipper grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds and recorded four assists.
- Olivet is idle until Saturday, December 16, when it hosts Anderson (Ind.) University, starting at 3 p.m. The game is part of a basketball doubleheader at the Cutler Event Center, as the Comet women host Adrian College prior to the men's game.
