HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team lost 73-59 to Illinois Institute of Technology in the opening game of the 2019 Hope College/Russ DeVette Holiday Classic, held at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.

- The Scarlet Hawks led by as many as 15 points, 31-16, with 1:56 left in the opening half. The Comets made the last basket of the half to trail by 13 points, 31-18, at the break.
- In the second half, Illinois Tech pushed its advantage to as many as 23 points on two occasions, with the last time being 52-29 at the 12:03 mark. The closest Olivet would get was 14 points with 1:15 remaining in the game and at the end of the game.
- Junior Eddie Thigpen paced Olivet with 17 points.
- Junior Shawn Pardee added 12 points.
- Junior Chris Martin finished with nine points and team-high nine rebounds.
- Max Hisatake led all players with 23 points, 17 rebounds and five assists.
- Miles Curry contributed 18 points and seven rebounds.
- Otis Reale had 16 points.
- Milos Dugalic tallied 11 points.
- Olivet faces Westminster (Pa.) College tomorrow ixn its second game at the Russ DeVette Holiday Classic. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
