Adams and Edmond named to 2017-18 D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region teams
Olivet College senior Jalen Adams and junior Tracy Edmond have been named to the 2017-18 D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region teams. Adams is a first-team pick, and Edmond is a third-team selection.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Olivet College senior Jalen Adams and junior Tracy Edmond have been named to the 2017-18 D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region teams. Adams is a first-team pick, and Edmond is a third-team selection. Both are now eligible to earn D3hoops.com All-America honors, which will be announced prior to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship game Saturday at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia.
Adams led the Comets in scoring (26.2 ppg) and rebounding (10.7 rpg). He broke the single-season scoring record with 707 points and 541 field goal attempts, while his 266 field goals made were second-most and 288 total rebounds were fourth most for a season.
Edmond was second in scoring (21.4 ppg). He also broke two of the longest-standing single-season records with 192 assists and 222 free throws attempted. The previous records were 220 free throw attempts by Gordon Lofts in 1967-68 and 174 assists by Max Lindsay in 1970-71. Edmond's 59 steals are sixth-most in a season.
Adams and Edmond helped the Comets win a share of the 2018 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship with a 10-4 MIAA record. Olivet last had a share of the league title was 1973. Adams was selected the MIAA's Most Valuable Player. He and Edmond were first-team All-MIAA selections.
They also join Michael McClary in 2009-10 and 2010-11, as the only players in school history to be named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region teams.
