Four double figure scorers lead men’s basketball team to 70-61 win at Trine
Four players scored in double figures, and the Olivet College men’s basketball team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Trine (Ind.) University, 70-61, tonight at the MTI Center in Angola, Indiana. With the win, the Comets remain in a three-way tie for first-place in the MIAA standings.

ANGOLA, Ind. – Four players scored in double figures, and the Olivet College men's basketball team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Trine (Ind.) University, 70-61, tonight at the MTI Center in Angola, Indiana. With the win, the Comets remain in a three-way tie for first-place in the MIAA standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Thunder held an 8-6 lead at the 16:36 mark of the opening half. The Comets responded with a 12-0 run to take an 18-8 lead. During the run, senior Eldridge Mason scored the first nine points. Myles Copeland made back-to-back baskets to help the Thunder trim their deficit back to single digits, 18-12. Trine would not get any closer as Olivet went up by 11 points, 32-21, at halftime.
- In the second half, the Thunder made it a one-possession game, 48-46, at the 8:21 mark. Junior Chase Brocker answered with a three-pointer at the other end and the Comets' lead would stay more than five points for the rest of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet made two less baskets and one less three-pointer in the game. However, the Comets drained 17-of-31 free throws compared to just 3-of-6 for the Thunder.
- Junior Tracy Edmond finished with a team-leading 18 points to go along with nine assists.
- Mason had 17 points.
- Senior Jalen Adams scored 14 points and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
- Brocker contributed 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-3 from behind the arc.
FOR THE THUNDER
- Copeland led all players with 21 points.
- Maurice Hunter, this week's MIAA Player of the Week, scored 12 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds.
- Langston Johnson and Pete Smith notched 11 points apiece.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Adrian, Hope and Olivet are all tied on top of the MIAA standings with 6-3 records. Trine is a game behind at 5-4. Albion, Alma and Calvin have identical 4-5 records.
- Adams now sits fourth all-time on the single-season scoring list with 525 points. He needs 10 points to pass Michael McClary's 534 points in 2009-10, and 22 points to pass Jeff Bell's 546 points in 1996-97. The record is 676 by McClary in 2010-11.
