Men’s basketball drops 94-58 decision at Hope
The Olivet College men’s basketball team dropped a 94-58 decision to Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest this evening at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team dropped a 94-58 decision to Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest this evening at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
The Flying Dutchmen, ranked No. 7 in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back. Hope would gain its largest lead of the game, 20 points, 40-20, at halftime. The Comets scored the first basket of the second and that would be the closest they would get for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, the Flying Dutchmen led by as many as 36 points
Olivet had three players score in double figures, led by senior Lee Gardner's 18 points. Junior Eric Ewing added 14 and junior Kyle Emory had 13. Gardner also topped the team with seven rebounds.
Hope's Alex Eidson came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting from behind the arc. Brock Benson contributed 16 points, and Harrison Blackledge had 10. Eidson pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
The Comets stay on the road to face Calvin College Saturday at 3 p.m.
