ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Alma College, 93-55, tonight at Art Smith Arena in Alma.
The Scots, ranked No. 15 in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, shot 51.6 percent (33-of-64) from the floor, including 10-of-28 from behind the three-point arc, and 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the charity stripe. The Comets made 21-of-62 (33.9 percent) field goals, with four triples, and 9-of-12 free throws.
Junior Chris Chrzan came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points to lead the Comets. Junior Kyle Emory provided 11 bench points. Senior Lee Gardner grabbed a game-best seven rebounds.
Alma had five players, including four starters, reach double figures in the scoring column. Doug Bradfield and Scott Nikodemski netted 14 points apiece, D.J. Beckman and Trevor Gernaat had 11 each, and Jason Beckman finished with 10. D.J. Beckman, Kevin Gamble and Rob Holmes all grabbed five rebounds.
Olivet will begin the second half of its MIAA schedule Saturday night when Adrian College visits The Cutler Event Center for a 7:30 p.m. game.
