Men’s basketball: Olivet loses to Hope, 108-72
The Olivet College men’s basketball team outscored Hope College by four points in the second half but it was not enough to overcome a large halftime deficit, as the Flying Dutch beat the Comets, 108-72, tonight at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team outscored Hope College by four points in the second half but it was not enough to overcome a large halftime deficit, as the Flying Dutch beat the Comets, 108-72, tonight at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
The Comets fell behind by 40 points, 57-17, at halftime before outscoring Hope, 55-51, in the second half. The closest Olivet would get in the second half was 27 points on three occasions. The last time was 93-66 with 3:50 left in the game after freshman Ben Temrowski made a three-pointer.
Sophomore Aaron Washington came off the bench to score 13 points to lead the Comets. Freshman Jake Zielinski joined him in double figures with 10 points. In only 11 minutes of playing, freshman Aubrey Parrish scored eight points. Freshman Devinn LoVette grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
For the Flying Dutch, Alex Eidson and Ben Gardner each scored 14 points, while Harrison Blackledge had 11. Brock Benson pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
Olivet hosts Albion College Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
