Bio

Larry Smith is in the third season of a third stint as an assistant football coach at Olivet in 2019. He previously coached the defensive line for seven seasons from 2004-11, and 2013-15.

Smith serves the college as director of the African-American Culture Center, director of African-American Retention, director of Alcohol Education and advisor of Alpha Xi Omega “Elite”.

Prior to becoming a member of the Olivet coaching staff, Smith was a defensive line coach at Michigan Tech University and linebackers/ defensive line coach at Grand Valley State University (GVSU).

Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration from Wayne State University in 1982 and master’s degree in Education Leadership from GVSU in 2000.

Smith and wife, Cathy, live in Bellevue.
