FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College junior kicker Douglas Pollard has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Special Teams Player of the Week for football.
Pollard tied Olivet's single-game record with three field goals in the Comets' 50-22 victory Oct. 6 at Adrian College. The field goals covered 24, 24 and 40 yards. He also made 5-of-6 PAT kicks, while averaging 61.1 yards, with three touchbacks, on 10 kickoffs.
"Doug made a big difference in the game on Saturday," said Olivet head coach Dan Musielewicz. "Being able to get points on three field goals created the momentum that we needed. In addition, his three touchbacks helped create positive field position."
For the season, Pollard has nailed all five of his field goals attempts and 28-of-29 PAT kicks for 43 total points. He is also averaging 57.7 yards per kickoff.
