MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Another honor for Olivet College senior Jerome Washington, as he has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware.com. This award is presented each week to the top football player nationally at each position.
One of two running backs on the team, Washington had 30 carries for 265 yards and two touchdowns in the Olivet's 47-26 victory over Albion College. Playing in a driving rain storm, none of his rushes went for negative yardage and he did not fumble the ball. Washington also ran the ball into the end zone for a two-point conversion. His touchdown runs covered 52 and 14 yards.
In addition, the 265 yards is the third-most in school history for a single game and ranks 12th among all NCAA Division III football players this season. Washington is the second Olivet player this season to be selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week, as freshman cornerback John Adams III earned the honor on Sept. 19.
The Comets (4-2, 2-1 MIAA) return to the field Saturday at Benedictine (Ill.) University. Kick-off at the Village of Lisle Sports Complex is 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.
