Olivet’s Cuba and Porter named MIAA Football Players of the Week
Olivet College football players Robert Cuba and Lane Porter have been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Players of the Week. Cuba is the Defensive Player of the Week, and Porter is the Offensive Player of the Week.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College football players Robert Cuba and Lane Porter have been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Players of the Week. Cuba is the Defensive Player of the Week, and Porter is the Offensive Player of the Week.
Cuba played a large role in the Comets' defense holding Kalamazoo College out of the end zone in a 40-6 win. He recorded five total tackles, including three for minus 14 yards. Two of tackles for loss were quarterback sacks. Cuba also forced a fumble recovery, which was scooped-up by senior Tyler Douglas for a 15-yard touchdown return. Porter completed 23-of-32 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns, with zero interceptions. The touchdown passes covered five, 25 and 75 yards to three different receivers.
The Comets (3-2, 1-1 MIAA) host Albion College (1-4, 0-2 MIAA) Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
