FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Brandon Benac has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Special Teams Player of the Week for football.
Benac returned three kickoffs for 147 yards in the Comets' season-opener against Heidelberg (Ohio) University. On the first return, he went 95 yards for a touchdown to tie for the second-longest kickoff return in school history. His other two returns covered 21 and 31 yards.
"Brandon has been a consistent playmaker for us in the return game," said Olivet head football coach Dan Musielewicz. "Against Heidelberg, he made plays for us all day long on kickoff return. Brandon has great speed and is aggressive with or without the football."
Olivet returns to the field Saturday when it plays at Elmhurst (Ill.) College. Kickoff from Langhorst Field is set for 2 p.m. EST.
