MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Olivet College sophomore punter Ryan Anderson and senior offensive lineman Ty Rozema have earned recognition on the 2015 D3football.com All-North Region teams. Anderson is a first-team pick, while Rozema landed on the third-team.
Anderson would rank fourth nationally among NCAA DIII punters with his 41.8 average. His 32 punts are not enough to qualify for the rankings, a punter must average 3.6 punts per game to be included. However, Anderson's punting helped the Comets as a team rank second in net punting average at 37.89 yards, as opponents were able to return only four punts for 23 yards. Overall, he had zero punts blocked, five traveled more than 50 yards and nine landed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Anderson's longest punt was 69 yards against Albion College.
Rozema started every game at the center position. He was an integral part of the offensive line, which ranks ninth in scoring offense (45.4 points per game), 18th in rushing offense (254.9 ypg) and 26th in total offense (477.8 ypg). In addition, the unit helped block for an offense is the national leader in fourth down conversions at 84 percent.
The teams, selected in balloting by North Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 228 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 76 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 18, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLIII in Salem, Virginia.
