Football: Comets dominate Concordia-Chicago, 33-7
The Olivet College football team overwhelmed Concordia University-Chicago, 33-7, today in a non-conference tilt at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. For the game, the Comets rolled up 24 first downs and 473 yards to seven first downs and 106 yards for the Cougars.

Sophomore Christopher Jones rushed for 133 yards on 18 carries. Junior Braden Black completed 19-of-26 passes for 274 yards. Sophomore Mitchell Bailey caught nine passes for 137 yards. Junior Jason Barbosa had two receptions for 56 yards to become Olivet's career leader for receiving yards.
Defensively, sophomore Justin Madar had a team-leading nine tackles, including three for loss yardage and two forced fumbles. Sophomore Javon Moore was next with seven tackles. Senior Ryan Armstrong finished with six tackles.
The Comets scored on their second possession in the game. Black capped a 12-play, 86-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown pass to junior Kyle Bryson. Olivet added to its lead with 1:12 left in the second quarter on another Black to Bryson touchdown pass, the one from 18 yards out. The Comets led 14-0 at halftime.
Olivet forced Concordia to punt on its first series of the second half. The Comets then marched 80 yards down the field to take a 21-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown run by Jones. Olivet stretched its lead to 27-0 lead with 1:45 remaining in the third quarter when junior Curtis French scooped up a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.
The Comets ended their scoring in the fourth quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Black. The Cougars broke up the shutout later in the final quarter on their own fumble recovery for a touchdown.
For the game, Concordia had 42 net rushing yards and 64 passing yards. Jakari Cammon had 16 carries for 75 yards. Two quarterbacks combined to complete 13-of-22 passes for the 64 yards. Christian Wilkie was the top receiver with three catches for 37 yards. Mike Bailey and A.J. Seidler topped the defense with nine tackles apiece.
Olivet hosts Alma College in its season-finale next Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m.
