Football: Armstrong earns MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors
Olivet College senior Ryan Armstrong has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week honors for football.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior Ryan Armstrong has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week honors for football.
Armstrong led the Comet defense with 12 total tackles in its 30-14 win over Kalamazoo College Oct. 25 at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Among his 12 tackles were 7.5 for loss yardage, including 3.5 quarterback sacks. One of the sacks was in the end zone for a safety. The 7.5 tackles for loss is a single-game school record and is tied for the fifth-most in NCAA Division III history. It is also the most by any football player across all NCAA levels of football this season.
For the season, Armstrong ranks second on the team with 46 total tackles. He leads the team and the MIAA with 16 for loss yardage.
Olivet travels to play defending league champion Albion College Saturday at 1 p.m.
