DELAWARE, Ohio – The University of Olivet baseball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University in a non-conference doubleheader, 10-6 and 8-2, this afternoon at Littick Field.
- Final Scores: Ohio Wesleyan 10, Olivet 6; Ohio Wesleyan 8, Olivet 2
- Location: Littick Field; Delaware, Ohio
- Records: Olivet 6-11 overall, Ohio Wesleyan 9-6 overall
- The Battling Bishops scored three runs in the first, third and fourth innings to take a 9-0 lead.
- The Comets sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the top of fifth inning.
- Olivet scored another run in the eighth inning. Later in the inning, the Comets brought the tying run to the plate but failed to score any more runs.
- Ohio Wesleyan got the run back in the bottom of the eighth and kept Olivet off the scoreboard in the ninth to win, 10-6.
- At the plate, the Comets totaled 12 hits compared to 13 for the Battling Bishops. All 12 hits for Olivet were singles, while Ohio Wesleyan had nine singles and four doubles.
- Freshman Austin Alflen was 3-for-4, with three singles.
- Senior Matthew Fennell and junior Blake Hawkins both went 3-for-5.
- Sophomore Braden Abbott collected two RBI.
- Sophomore Charlie Quilliam suffered the pitching loss after giving up five earned runs on six hits over the first three innings.
- Sophomore Wyatt Leland pitched five innings in relief and allowed four earned runs on seven hits.

- The Comets leveled the score with a single tally in the fourth inning.
- In the bottom of fourth, the Battling Bishops used two walks, a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly to push across the go-ahead run.
- A two-out rally helped Olivet tie the game in the fifth inning. Sophomore Will Myrick hit a single and hustled around the bases to score on freshman Jack Friesen's double off the center field fence.
- Ohio Wesleyan scored what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning.
- The Battling Bishops extended their lead with five insurance runs in the eighth inning.
- Olivet recorded six hits, including two singles by Abbott.
- The only extra base hit was Friesen's RBI-double.
- Senior Gabriel Kirck had one hit to raise his consecutive games hit streak to eight.
- Junior Andrew Vendzuh yielded two earned runs on four hits over the first five innings.
- Sophomore Antonio Biggs was tagged with the pitching loss. He threw two and one-third innings of relief, allowing three earned runs on three hits.
- Olivet begins Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play against Calvin University. On Friday, the teams play a nine-inning game in Grand Rapids, starting at 4 p.m. The series then shifts to Olivet on Saturday for a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m.
