OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team was swept by Calvin University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader, 19-3 and 19-6, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- After the Knights scored three runs in the top of first, Olivet answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Calvin pushed across seven runs in the second and three runs in the third to take a commanding 13-1 lead. Olivet got run back in the last half of the third, but the Knights put another three spot on the scoreboard in the fourth. The Comets tallied one run in their half of the fourth. Calvin ended the scoring with single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to post the seven-inning run-rule win.
- Olivet ended the game with four hits, all singles. Sophomore Blake Hawkins drove in two runs. Five pitchers combined to give up the 19 runs (16 earned) on 18 hits and eight walks.
- The Knights went up 6-0 after scoring four runs in the first and one run in the second and fourth innings. Olivet closed the gap to a single run with three runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth. Calvin put the game out of reach with six runs in the sixth, two runs in the seventh and five runs in the eighth. Sophomore Alex Rose hit a solo home run for the Comets in the eighth.
- The Comets scored their six runs on 10 hits. Freshman Braden Abbott and Isaac Moore each had two hits. The lone extra base hits were doubles by junior Gabriel Kirck and senior Sylas Woll. Four pitchers made an appearance on the mound, as they allowed the 19 runs (16 earned) on 14 hits, seven walks and six hit batters.
- Olivet hosts Trine (Ind.) University Monday, April 10, for a rescheduled nine-inning game. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
