Baseball team defeated by Elmhurst, Eureka
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Olivet College baseball team was on the losing end of two neutral-site games today at the Future Champions Sports Complex. In their first game, the Comets lost 10-6 to Elmhurst (Ill.) University. In the second game, Eureka (Ill.) College rallied beat Olivet, 3-1.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Olivet College baseball team was on the losing end of two neutral-site games today at the Future Champions Sports Complex. In their first game, the Comets lost 10-6 to Elmhurst (Ill.) University. In the second game, Eureka (Ill.) College rallied beat Olivet, 3-1.

- The Comets pushed across two runs in the first and second innings. The Bluejays closed the gap to 4-3 with a single run in the third and two runs in the fourth.
- Olivet plated one run in the top half of the fifth inning. Elmhurst sent 10 players to the plate and scored five runs in its half of the fifth to take its first lead, 8-5.
- The Bluejays added two more runs in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 10-5. The Comets scored their final run in the eighth inning.
- Olivet totaled 11 hits in the game.
- Senior Sylas Woll went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
- Senior James Harris had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
- Sophomore Ben Helgevold tallied two singles.
- On the mound, senior Ryan Upton suffered the loss after allowing the first six runs on five hits and five walks over the first four innings.
- Trey Romay, Brett Bishop, Ryan Thrawl and Zach Kolb each had two hits.
- Romay's two hits were doubles.
- Kolb, Thrawl, Drew Raspolich and Freddie March collected two RBI apiece.
- Jesse James scored three runs.
- Zach Keplar earned the pitching win in relief of starter Eric Zbinden.

- Olivet scored its only run in the first inning when Woll doubled and came around to score on a single by junior Gabriel Kirck.
- The Red Devils went ahead 2-1 in the sixth inning on a two-run home run and added an insurance run in the ninth.
- Olivet was held to five hits, including two for Woll.
- Freshman JB Stroh struck out 11 batters and did not walk a batter over the first seven innings. He gave up the first two runs to be charged with the pitching loss.
- Eureka recorded seven hits – five singles, a home run and a double.
- Braden Cox hit the two-run homer.
- The double was by Cole Tanner.
- Nathan Garard picked-up the pitching win after throwing six innings and allowing a run on four hits.
- Parker Brodine earned the save with two innings of one-hit relief.
- The Comets play a nine-inning game Wednesday at Manchester (Ind.) University. First pitch is set for 3:15 p.m.
