JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Olivet College baseball team dropped a 14-6 decision to Elmhurst (Ill.) University this evening at the Future Champions Sports Complex.

- Records: Olivet 0-4 overall, Elmhurst 2-3 overall
- Batting as the visiting team, the Bluejays scored two runs in the first inning and three runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead.
- The Comets put their first run on the scoreboard in the home half of the third when senior Sylas Woll and junior Gabriel Kirck hit back-to-back doubles.
- Elmhurst broke the game open with a single run in the fifth inning before exploding for seven runs, including a grand slam home run, in the sixth inning.
- Olivet got three runs back in the seventh inning on a two-run double by Woll and an RBI-single by freshman Max Coburn.
- After the Bluejays pushed across their final run in the top of eighth, the Comets answered with their final two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
- Olivet totaled six runs on seven hits, while Elmhurst had 10 hits and took advantage of seven Comet errors to score its 14 runs.
- Kirck and Woll each had two hits.
- Both of Woll's hits were doubles, while Kirck had a double and a single.
- Freshman Bryan Carney started on the mound and struck out eight in four innings. He gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits to be charged with the loss.
- Freshman Charlie Quilliam lasted only one inning in relief and surrendered seven runs (five earned) on four hits.
- Freshman Tyson Carter pitched the final four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on hit and three walks. He struck out four.
- Trey Romay was 3-for-4 with two home runs, four runs scored and seven RBI.
- Freddie March and Zach Kolb had multi-hit games, with two hits apiece.
- Drew Raspolich scored three runs from the leadoff spot in the lineup.
- Cole Bazzi earned the pitching win, as he yielded one run on three hits over the first six innings. He struck out nine and walked three.
- Three relief pitchers each tossed one inning and combined to give up five runs (four earned) on four hits, while striking out seven and walking four.
- Olivet and Elmhurst face each other tomorrow for another nine-inning game, starting at 11:30 a.m. ET. The Comets will then play Eureka (Ill.) College at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET.
