Baseball team loses close games to Albion and Alma in Indiana
WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Olivet College baseball team lost 3-1 to Albion College and 8-7 to Alma College in non-conference contests today at Grand Sports Park.

WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Olivet College baseball team lost 3-1 to Albion College and 8-7 to Alma College in non-conference contests today at Grand Sports Park.

- The Britons scored their first run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly.
- The Comets tied the game in the bottom of second on a RBI-groundout by sophomore Sylas Woll.
- Another sacrifice fly put Albion ahead 2-1 in the third inning.
- The Britons added an insurance run in the fifth inning.
- Olivet had six hits.
- Senior Matt Fisher was 2-for-2 with two singles and a walk.
- The lone extra-base hit was a double by freshman Quartaze Phillips.
- Junior Brendan Redding was the hard-luck losing pitcher, as he allowed the three runs on six hits over the first seven and one-third innings. Redding struck out four batters.
- Junior Hunter Henson tossed an inning and two-thirds of hitless relief. Three of his outs were strikeouts.
- From the leadoff spot in the lineup, Drew Olszewski went 3-for-4 with two runs, a double and a triple.
- Three other players each had a base hit.
- Kellen Huang pitched seven innings, giving up one run on six hits to earn the win.
- Olszewski threw the final two innings to pick-up the save.

- The Comets jumped out to a 2-0 on an RBI-single by junior Ben Compton in the top half of the first inning.
- The Scots immediately answered with three runs in their half of the first.
- Alma added another run in the third inning to go up 4-2.
- Olivet leveled the score at 4-4 with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning.
- The Scots seized a 7-4 lead a single tally in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth.
- The Comets rallied to tie the game with a run in the seventh before using a hit and error in the ninth inning to push across two runs.
- Alma used a two-out hit to walk-off with the victory in the bottom of ninth.
- Olivet collected 12 hits.
- At the plate, Woll was 4-for-4 with two RBI.
- Phillips and senior Logan Sella each had two hits, with a single and a double.
- Senior Zac Walter was charged with the pitching loss, as he gave up the final three runs on seven hits over three and two-third innings.
- Kevin Tuttle and Zach Schirmer both went 3-for-5 at the plate.
- Joshua Robinson scored three runs.
- Ty Sobczak was the winning pitcher.
- The Comets start Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play next Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, against Albion. The first two games of the series are Friday at the Cutler Athletic Complex, beginning at 2 p.m. The series moves to Albion Saturday for the final two games, starting at 1 p.m.
