Bennett’s RBI-single lifts baseball team past Nebraska Wesleyan, 3-2
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Senior Riley Bennett lined an RBI-single in the eighth inning to lift the Olivet College baseball team past Nebraska Wesleyan University, 3-2, this afternoon at Chain of Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Senior Riley Bennett lined an RBI-single in the eighth inning to lift the Olivet College baseball team past Nebraska Wesleyan University, 3-2, this afternoon at Chain of Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida.

- The Comets pushed across a run in the top half of the second inning. Senior Brandan Settles reached base on an infield single, stole second, went to third on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Matt Fisher and scored on a squeeze bunt by freshman Sylas Woll.
- Olivet added another run in the fifth inning. Woll hit a leadoff-double into shallow left field, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Noah McMinn.
- The Prairie Wolves got one run back and left the bases loaded in the home half of the fifth.
- Nebraska Wesleyan tied the game with an unearned run in the seventh inning.
- The Comets tallied what proved to the game-winning run in the eighth. Junior John Kortz led off with a single. He went to second on a wild pitch and to third on a groundout. With the infield drawn in, senior Riley Bennett lined a sharply-hit single between the shortstop and third baseman to score Kortz.
- The Prairie Wolves left the tying run stranded on base in the ninth inning.
- On the mound, sophomore Brendan Redding did not factor in the pitching decision. He allowed an unearned run on three hits, while striking out six batters over six innings.
- Despite giving up the tying run in the seventh, senior Huston Snyder was credited with the win.
- Senior Matt Rehfeldt pitched the eighth and ninth innings to earn his second save of the season. He struck out three of the seven batters he faced.
- At the plate, Kortz was 3-for-4.
- Settles and Woll each had two hits, including one double apiece.
- Mason Bennett notched two of the four Nebraska Wesleyan hits. He also drove in a run.
- Noah Unger started on the mound and pitched six and two-thirds innings. He gave up two runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking one.
- Brady Harrison surrendered the winning run and was the losing pitcher.
