Baseball team falls to Otterbein, 6-1, in Sunshine State

- There was no scoring until the fifth inning when the Cardinals pushed across a pair of runs on a two-run single by Gino Pierro.
- The Comets trimmed their deficit in half in the top half of the sixth inning. Senior Riley Bennett hit a triple to right field and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Ben Compton.
- Otterbein answered with a run in the home half of the sixth before plating one more run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth inning.
- Olivet finished the game with six hits.
- Bennett and senior Aaron Gillespie each tallied two hits.
- On the mound, sophomore Hunter Henson threw the first six and one-third innings to be charged with the loss. He gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out eight.
- Junior Ryan Simono completed the game in relief. He allowed three runs on three hits.
- Otterbein totaled eight hits.
- Matthew Gibson and Ryan Mitchell each registered two hits.
- Pierro drove in three runs.
- Eric Aufderbeck went the distance on the mound, scattering the six hits over the nine innings. He struck out five and walked three.
- The Comets return to the Player Development Complex tomorrow for a 12 p.m. game against Thiel (Pa.) College.
