The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Kalamazoo College, 3-0 and 13-5, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Kalamazoo College, 3-0 and 13-5, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
- The Hornets scored the only run they would need in the first inning.
- Kalamazoo added single tallies in the third and sixth innings.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet had just three hits – one each for juniors Colton Dawdy and Aiden Holliday, and freshman Alex Parthum.
- On the mound, freshman Aaron Gillespie was the losing pitcher. He went all seven innings, allowing the three runs (one earned) on four hits, while striking out five.
FOR THE HORNETS
- Jack Clark had two of the four Kalamazoo hits.
- The only extra base hit in the game was a double by David Kracht.
- Ryan Orr tossed the complete game to earn his fifth win of the season. He struck out 11 and did not walk a batter.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
- The Hornets plated two runs in the top half of the first inning.
- Olivet answered with three runs in the home half of the first. With the bases loaded, Holliday lined a single through the right-side of the infield to score senior Austin Cleaver and Gillespie.
- Kalamazoo got those three runs back plus three more in the third inning.
- The Hornets added single runs in the third and sixth innings to increase their lead to 10-3.
- The Comets pushed across a pair of runs on an RBI-single by Parthum and RBI-double by freshman Dillon Mitchell in the seventh.
- Kalamazoo capped the scoring with one run in the eighth and two more runs in the ninth.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet recorded 11 hits in the game.
- Cleaver and Parthum were both 2-for-5, and Gillespie and Mitchell each went 2-for-4.
- Freshman Zac Walter started on the mound and lasted just four innings, yielding nine runs (five earned) on 10 hits in four innings.
- Senior Andrew Dayfield gave up one run on four hits in three innings of relief.
- Junior Michael O'Brien threw two innings of relief, surrendering three runs on six hits.
FOR THE HORNETS
- Clark and Jordan Wiley had three hits apiece.
- Four other players each had a pair of hits.
- Ian Kobernick drove in a team-best four runs and scored three times.
- Aaron Schwark earned the pitching win after throwing six innings. He allowed three runs on eight hits, while fanning seven batters.
- Four relievers combined to throw the final three innings.
