Baseball team swept by Adrian in MIAA doubleheader, 4-1 and 20-4
The Olivet College baseball team was swept by Adrian College in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opening doubleheader today at Nicolay Field in Adrian. The Bulldogs won the games by scores of 4-1 and 20-4.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team was swept by Adrian College in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opening doubleheader today at Nicolay Field in Adrian. The Bulldogs won the games by scores of 4-1 and 20-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
- The Comets took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top half of the first inning. Freshman Aaron Gillespie hit a double down the left field line, went to third on a ground out and crossed the plate on a single by junior Aiden Holliday.
- The Bulldogs tied the game on a sacrifice fly in their half of the first.
- Adrian took a 2-1 lead with a run in the fourth inning
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 4-1 on a two-run by Ryan Dorow.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet collected five hits in the game.
- Holliday went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
- Holliday suffered the pitching loss after allowing four runs on eight hits, while striking out four in five and two-thirds innings.
- Freshman Brett Tyndall recorded the final out in the sixth inning.
FOR THE BULLDOGS
- Adrian finished the game with eight hits, including a 3-for-3 performance by Dorow.
- Tommy Parsons picked-up the complete game pitching win. He gave up the one run on six hits, with five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
- The Bulldogs scored at least one run in all except one inning. The most runs they had in a single inning was six in the third.
- Olivet scored its first two runs in the top half of the third on a two-run homer by Gillespie.
- The Comets other two runs came in the fifth inning. Junior Kevin Hatcher hit an RBI-single and Gillespie launched a sacrifice fly.
FOR THE COMETS
- Gillespie, Hatcher and senior Austin Cleaver each had two hits and all three scored one run apiece.
- Gillespie drove in three runs.
- Five pitchers combined to throw the eight total innings. All 20 runs allowed were earned on 22 hits. Junior Joseph Crosby was charged with the pitching loss.
FOR THE BULLDOGS
- Miccoy Drzewiecki was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.
- Gunner Rainey also had three hits, including a pair of doubles, to go along with three runs scored and two RBI.
- Six other players recorded two hits each.
- Jason Schroeder earned the win on the mound. He struck out nine, while giving up four runs on six hits.

- The teams are scheduled to complete the four-game series with a doubleheader Sunday at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet, starting at 1 p.m.
