Baseball team loses twice to Adrian, 12-1 and 5-0
The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a MIAA doubleheader to Adrian College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Bulldogs claimed a 12-1 win in the nightcap and then blanked the Comets, 5-0, in the nightcap.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Adrian College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Bulldogs claimed a 12-1 win in the nightcap and then blanked the Comets, 5-0, in the nightcap.
Adrian had eight hits and took advantage of three Olivet errors to score its 12 runs in the opener. The Comets scored their only run in the third inning. Junior Brady Johnson walked, stole second base, went to third on a ground out and scored on senior Jimmy Schoof's groundout.
Olivet was held to just three hits, singles by Schoof, sophomore Connor Murney and freshman Travis Petts. Senior Mitch Galloway was tagged with the pitching loss after giving up eight runs, four earned, on six hits in five innings.
In the second game, the Bulldogs pushed across two runs in the first inning and two more runs in the third inning to go up 4-0. The Comets left the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Adrian added its final run in the ninth inning.
Olivet finished the contest with five hits, including two each for junior Austin Cleaver and sophomore Luke Spotts. The fifth hit was a double by Schoof. Sophomore Aiden Holliday was credited with the loss, as he allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits in five innings.
The Comets' next four-game MIAA series is against Trine (Ind.) University. The series begins one week from today, April 2, with two games at Jannen Field in Angola, and the final two games will be in Olivet next Sunday, April 3. Both doubleheaders will get under way at 1 p.m.
