Baseball team shutout by Carroll, 11-0
The Olivet College baseball team was shutout by Carroll (Wis.) University, 11-0, this morning at the Gene Cusic Classic and on Roberto Clemente Field inside Terry Park in Fort Myers, Florida.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Olivet College baseball team was shutout by Carroll (Wis.) University, 11-0, this morning at the Gene Cusic Classic and on Roberto Clemente Field inside Terry Park in Fort Myers, Florida.
The Pioneers scored two runs in the first, one run in the third and two runs in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead. Carroll then doubled their lead with a five-run eighth inning and capped its scoring with a single tally in the ninth inning. The Comets did not get a runner past second base until the eighth inning when sophomore Nick Jones singled up the middle and went to third on a pinch-hit by freshman Chase Cook.
Olivet finished the game with just six hits, including two for Jones. Extra base hits were Cook's double and a double by junior Bryan Reed. Junior Cameron Hendrickson was the losing pitcher, as he gave up three earned three earned runs in three innings. Senior Tyler Parish, sophomore Michael O'Brien and senior Nick Taylor all pitched in relief.
The Comets are back in action tomorrow night with a 6 p.m. game against Finlandia University at Terry Park.
