Olivet College’s Panos tabbed second-team All-MIAA for baseball
Olivet College junior catcher Peter Panos (Davison) has been selected to the 2014 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team for baseball.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior catcher Peter Panos (Davison) has been selected to the 2014 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team for baseball. All-league honors are based on a player's statistics during the 28-game MIAA schedule.
Panos started 20 games behind the plate and five other games at designated in MIAA play this season. He led the Comets with a .338 batting average to go along with 24 hits and 11 RBI. Defensively, Panos had only one error in 86 chances for a .988 fielding percentage.
For the entire season, Panos started 3-of-34 games played. He had a team-leading .363 batting average and .414 on-base percentage. He scored nine runs and collected 16 RBI. The error in league play was his only error in 120 chances for the sixth-best single-season fielding percentage, .992, in school history.
"Pete had a great season offensively and defensively," said Olivet Head Coach Ted Mahan. "He was a very consistent all hitter all season never going into a slump. Pete made only one error and threw out a number of runners stealing."
