Baseball team swept by Trine, 4-2 and 6-4
The Olivet College baseball team lost a pair of two-run decisions to Trine (Ind.) University today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Thunder won by scores of 4-2 and 6-4.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team lost a pair of two-run decisions to Trine (Ind.) University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Thunder won by scores of 4-2 and 6-4.
In the opener, Trine scored single tallies in the third and fourth innings and two runs in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. The Comets came back with two runs in the sixth inning. Junior Jonny Zawacki led off with a double and scored on a RBI-single by senior Randy Young. After senior Andrew Brawley singled, sophomore Joey Myers hit a double just fair down the right field line to score Young and advance Brawley to third.
Two groundouts and a fly out ended Olivet's scoring threat. The Comets brought the go-ahead run to the plate before the Thunder escaped with the win.
Both teams had seven hits. Young and Zawacki each had two for Olivet. Junior Jake Ball suffered the pitching loss, giving up three earned runs in five innings. Sophomore Collin McCririe tossed two scoreless innings of relief.
In game two, Olivet took a 1-0 lead on an unearned run in the first. After Trine tied the game at 1-1 in the top half of the fourth, the Comets regained a 2-1 lead when Myers singled home Zawacki in the last half of the inning. The Thunder responded with a run in the fifth to knot the score at 2-2.
Trine took a 4-2 lead with two runs in the sixth and plated two insurance runs in the seventh. Despite having the bases loaded with nobody out in its half of the seventh, Olivet only managed to score twice.
For the game, five different Comets each had one hit. Young drove in two runs, and four others scored one run a piece. Senior Jay Magro started on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits in five and one-third innings.
Olivet will travel to play Alma College for a rescheduled MIAA doubleheader tomorrow, starting at 1 p.m.
