Bowling teams open season at SHU Halo Classic
The Olivet College men’s and women’s bowling teams opened their seasons Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Siena Heights University Halo Classic. The tournament was held at the Lenawee Recreation Center in Adrian and consisted of six individual games and eight baker games.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's bowling teams opened their seasons Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Siena Heights University Halo Classic. The tournament was held at the Lenawee Recreation Center in Adrian and consisted of six individual games and eight baker games.
The Comet women finished third of four schools with a team total of 6,014 pins. Senior Loretta Hinds placed sixth of 31 bowlers with a 1,107 pin total. Junior Amanda Igl was ninth with 1,025 pins. Freshman Alyssa Crampton finished 13th at 939, followed by sophomores Brianna Curtis and Amanda Briggs at 913 and 906, respectively.
The Olivet men totaled 6,877 pins to place fourth of six schools. Freshman Tyler Kolassa finished sixth of 55 bowlers with 1,234 total pins, which was just seven pins shy of landing a spot on the all-tournament team. Freshman Dennis Crump was 16th with a total of 1,115 pins. Sophomore Phillip Hawes was next at 1,086, followed by freshman Cody Van Gordon, 1072.
