Bowling teams open season at Rochester Warrior Fall Classic
The Olivet College bowling teams opened their 2016-17 seasons by participating in the 2016 Rochester College Warrior Fall Classic Saturday, Sept. 24 at Bowl One Lanes in Troy.
TROY, Mich. – The Olivet College bowling teams opened their 2016-17 seasons by participating in the 2016 Rochester College Warrior Fall Classic Saturday, Sept. 24 at Bowl One Lanes in Troy.
The Comet women placed sixth with a team score of 4,167 and a baker total of 2,040 for a team total of 6,207 pins. Individually, junior Loretta Hinds had a five-game total of 941 pins to finish in third-place of 58 bowlers and land a spot on the all-tournament team. Her high game was a 199. The best game turned in by an Olivet bowler was a 210 by sophomore Brianna Thurlby.
Making their debut as a men's bowling program, the Comets finished in 10th-place. They had a team score of 4,229 and a baker total of 1,855 for a team total of 6,084 pins. Phillip Hawes placed seventh of 79 bowlers with a five-game total of 938, with a high game of 210 pins.
Olivet is next scheduled to compete Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29-30, at the first two rounds of the American Heartland Intercollegiate Championships. The rounds will take place at Palace Bowl in Columbus, Ohio.
