Olivet College to add women’s bowling program
Olivet College Director of Athletics Dave Sichterman has announced the Comets will sponsor a women’s bowling program, beginning in the fall of 2014. The team will start as an intercollegiate club program, with plans to become an NCAA varsity program after the first year.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College Director of Athletics Dave Sichterman has announced the Comets will sponsor a women's bowling program, beginning in the fall of 2014. The team will start as an intercollegiate club program, with plans to become an NCAA varsity program after the first year.
"We are certainly excited about the addition of women's bowling to our growing athletic department," said Sichterman. "With the support of the college's administration and admissions department, I am confident we will be able to build a solid program at Olivet College."
Karine Walters has been hired to be the head coach for the program. A 2006 graduate of Olivet, she also serves as the athletic department's administrative assistant.
Marshall Lanes will be the home practice site for the Comets.
