Olivet College lacrosse teams picked sixth in MIAA preseason polls
The Olivet College men’s and women’s lacrosse teams were both picked sixth in the 2016 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) preseason polls. The coaches for both teams voted on the poll, and were not allowed to vote for their own team.
FREELAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s lacrosse teams were both picked sixth in the 2016 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) preseason polls. The coaches for both teams voted on the poll, and were not allowed to vote for their own team.
A new era for both Olivet programs begins in 2016, as Matt Holtz starts his first season as head coach for the men’s team and Mackenzie Inman is her first season as head coach for the women’s team. The men’s team received 22 total points, with defending league champion Albion College being tabbed the preseason favorite. The women’s team garnered 42 points, with defending MIAA regular season champion Calvin College being selected as the preseason favorite.
The Olivet men open the 2016 season this Saturday, Feb. 20, with a road game against Oberlin (Ohio) College at 2 p.m. Their home-opener is one week later, Feb. 27, against Concordia (Wis.) University. Game time at the Cutler Athletic Complex is 1 p.m.

The Comet women start their season Saturday, Feb. 27, with a 4 p.m. game at Ohio Northern University. The Comets’ home-opener is not until Saturday, April 9, against Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College at 1 p.m.
