OLIVET, Mich. – On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will be participating in an event called the “Hour of Power” Relay to raise money and awareness for The Ted Mullin Fund for Pediatric Sarcoma Research. In its 10th year, the “Hour of Power” Relay honors Carleton (Minn.) College swimmer Ted Mullin who passed away in the fall of 2006 from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer.
The Comets will begin the “Hour of Power” Relay at 4 p.m. inside the Upton Center Pool. Swimming and diving teams across the country will simultaneously be swimming the “Hour of Power” that day and leaving it all in the pool.
The Olivet swimming and diving teams are asking for your support in a few ways. The first way is by packing the stands and cheering on the teams as they complete the hour-long relay. Additionally, we will be recognizing those near and dear to us who have battled any type of cancer by posting their names around the pool deck.
Lastly, the teams are asking for donations of any kind to The Ted Mullin Fund. All money raised through this event will support research at the University of Chicago Medicine into the causes and treatment of sarcoma in young people. Cancer SucksTM merchandise, including swim caps and T-shirts are available for purchase. All information regarding this event can be found on “Hour of Power” website at – bit.ly/hour_of_power.

See you at the pool on Nov. 10, as the swimmers leave it all in the pool!
