Olivet College women’s track & field team receives academic award, Weaver also earns honor
The Olivet College women’s track and field team has received an award for being a 2013-14 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. The award is open to any collegiate track and field program which has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or higher. In addition, senior-to-be Jalen Weaver (Albion) was named to the 2013-14 USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College women’s track and field team has received an award for being a 2013-14 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. The award is open to any collegiate track and field program which has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or higher. In addition, senior-to-be Jalen Weaver (Albion) was named to the 2013-14 USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
Led by Head Coach Justin Linzy, the Comet women posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.38 and was one-of-four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schools to receive the award. The other three schools were Albion, Calvina and Hope colleges.
To be named to the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 or higher cumulative GPA and competed at either the NCAA Indoor or Outdoor National Championships or finished the regular season ranked in the top 35 in an individual event. Weaver carries a 3.8436 GPA in exercise science and participated in the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
