Four swimmers selected to CSC Academic All-District team
OLIVET, Mich. – Four Olivet College men’s and women’s swimmers have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team and are now eligible to earn CSC Academic All-America® honors. The honorees are junior Jennifer Mann from the women’s team, and sophomores Seth Kading and Landon Morgan, and senior Takato Timmerman from the men’s team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Four Olivet College men's and women's swimmers have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team and are now eligible to earn CSC Academic All-America® honors. The honorees are junior Jennifer Mann from the women's team, and sophomores Seth Kading and Landon Morgan, and senior Takato Timmerman from the men's team.
To be named to the Academic All-District team, the swimmer or dive must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and have significant athletic accomplishments in the pool.
Mann is a biology with pre-medicine concentration major. In the pool, she is a three-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection. She won the 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley, and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle at the 2023 MIAA Championship. Mann holds the school record in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.99) and 400 IM (4:30.11), while ranking second all-time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.20), 500-yard freestyle (5:02.88), 1,000-yard freestyle (10:41.40) and 1,650-yard freestyle (17:38.36).
Out of the pool, Mann is a member of Sigma Zeta, Gruen chemistry society and the Global Citizen's Honors Program, and is a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. She has volunteered at Michigan State University (MSU) football games, as a manager for a concessions stand.
Kading is majoring in business administration with a marketing concentration. He swims primarily the backstroke events, and has the seventh-fastest time in school history in the 100 at 53.91 seconds and 200 at 1:59.43. Kading ranks eighth all-time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.86) and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle (47.68).
Away from the pool, Kading is a President's Leadership Institute fellow, as well as vice president and co-founder of Christian Comets Connect, and president and founder of the Spikeball Club. He has been on the President's List two of his three semesters, and Dean's List for the third. Kading was named to the 2021-22 MIAA Academic Honor Roll. He has volunteered for MSU concessions and the Calhoun County Fair. Kading also co-rank a book and donation drive for a school in Ghana to gain books, fresh water and toilets as part of Olivet's Difference Makers program.
Morgan is a history major and part of the teaching pathways program. Swimming mainly the breaststroke events, he has the ninth-fastest all-time in the 200 at 2:11.87 and 10th in the 100 at 59.70 seconds.
Morgan is a member of Olivet's historical society and has been on the Dean's List each of his three semesters at Olivet. He has participated in the college's Service Day every semester and is organizing a park clean up at Ketchum Park in Marshall. Morgan is a coach for the Marshall Swim Club.
Timmerman completed a bachelor's degree with marketing and management concentrations in May 2022 and is presently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program. He earned 2021 All-MIAA honors. Timmeran holds the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (56.38) and is second all-time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:05.82).
Timmerman has been on the Dean's List during his time at Olivet. He is a three-time selection to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
