Three student-athletes punch tickets to 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
Three Olivet College student-athletes have punched their tickets to the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three Olivet College student-athletes have punched their tickets to the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Junior Noah Bailey qualifies in the triple jump. His season-best mark of 47 feet, 2-1/4 inches is seeded 13th in the event, which will take place Saturday at 2:15 p.m. Sophomore Jacob Smith is seeded 16th in the shot put after a season-best toss of 53 feet, 3 inches. The shot put will be contested March 9 at 3:15 p.m.
Freshman Lillian Albaugh had a season-best mark of 44 feet, 9-1/2 inches in shot put to be seeded 14th in the event. The shot put is scheduled for Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
In field events, each competitor will be allowed three attempts in the preliminary round. The competitors with the nine best performances in the preliminary round, after tie-breaking, will advance to the final round. In the final round, each competitor will be allowed three more attempts. The top eight performers will earn All-American honors.
On Monday, March 4, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this trio was named to the 2019 All-Great Lakes Region team. The top five individuals in each event from each region earned this distinction.
