Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - February 19, 2024
The Dean Trailways Co-Female Comet of the Week is sophomore Natalia Johnson, of Lansing, and graduate of Sexton High School. Johnson ran two personal-best times at the Saginaw Valley State University Tune-Up. She completed the 60-meter dash in 8.20 seconds and 200-meter dash in 26.72 seconds. Both times rank second all-time at Olivet. The times moved her up to seventh in the 60 and fifth in the 200 on the MIAA Performance List.
The Dean Trailways Co-Female Comet of the Week is senior Abbey Peters, of Olivet, and graduate of Olivet High School. Peters broke the school record in the mile run at the Saginaw Valley State University Tune-Up. Her time was 5 minutes and 22.48 seconds.
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is junior Boe Eckman, of White Pigeon, and graduate of Constantine High School. Eckman won the 285-pound title to lead the wrestling team at the Mid-States Invitational. He had a 5-0 record. Four of the wins were pins, totaling five minutes and 35 seconds. In the championship match, Eckman pinned Doug Byrne from Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University, who is the No. 5-ranked wrestler and a two-time NCAA All-American.
