Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - February 12, 2024
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is senior Lily Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Croswell-Lexington High School. Connelly led the women’s basketball team to a 76-73 win over Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College in its only game last week. She scored 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out five assists. In the final minute of the game, Connelly was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line to help seal Olivet’s win on Senior Night.
The Dean Trailways Co-Male Comet of the Week is senior Chris Davis, of Fowlerville, and graduate of Fowlerville High School. Davis ran two personal-best times, including a school-record performance at the Grand Valley State University Big Meets. On Friday, he broke the school record in the mile run at 4:14.73. Davis’ other personal best was in the 800-meter run at 1:56.53, which moves him up to No. 4 on the Olivet Top 10 indoor list in the event.
The Dean Trailways Co-Male Comet of the Week is senior Noah Wiswary, of Jenison, and graduate of Unity Christian High School. Wiswary averaged 19.5 points in two games for the men’s basketball team last week. In a loss to Calvin University, he scored a career-high 22 points, and followed that performance with 17 points and eight assists in an 87-75 upset win over No. 2 Trine (Ind.) University. For the week, Wiswary made 13-of-22 (59.1 percent) baskets, including 6-of-12 (50 percent) from behind the arc and 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) free throws for his 39 points. He had only four turnovers for a 2.8 assists-to-turnover ratio.
