Dean Trailways Male Comets of the Week - May 9, 2022
The Dean Trailways Co-Male Comet of the Week is junior Jordon Brown, of Niles, and graduate of Niles High School. With a personal-time of 48.12 seconds, Brown took first-place in the 400-meter run at the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day. The time vaulted him to No. 19 on the NCAA Division III Performance List. In addition, he finished second in the 200-meter dash (:21.93) and fifth in the long jump (22 feet, 3-3/4 inches). Brown also ran legs of the third-place 4x400-meter relay and fifth-place 4x100-meter relay. Both relays posted season-best times at 3:19.57 and 43.44 seconds, respectively.
The Dean Trailways Co-Male Comet of the Week is senior Ben Compton, of Rochester Hills, and graduate of Rochester High School. Compton posted a .385 batting average in helping the baseball team win 2-of-3 games against Alma College. In the first game of a doubleheader on the Scots’ field, he had a double and RBI, and followed that with two hits, two RBI and two runs in the second game of the twinbill. In Olivet’s 5-4 come-from-behind win on its home field, Compton tallied two hits (a double and a single) and scored a run. Defensively in the three games at second base, he did not commit and error in nine chances (five putouts and four assists).
